A Message From The Principal
Mrs Claire Allen
It has been an exciting week at NPS with our Literacy Enrichment Class attednding the Premier’s Debating Challeng in Moree, our Leaders presenting on MAX FM, the continued improvements to our school grounds including improvements to our streetscape on Barwan Street and the planting of two new apple trees for our Gardening Gurus program. There is always a diversity of activity happening at NPS, catering to our many and varied student’s interest levels. Encouraging and celebrating individuality helps our students to feel like they belong and are part of a nuturing school family that helps them to grow academically. We are so proud of our staff and students for embracing our core values, in every setting, every day!

We encourage everyone to be involved when they can and appreciate this valued support of our stschool.
Debating Workshop
On Monday Mrs White, Mrs Brown and 11 students travelled to Moree to attend a debating Workshop for Primary students. This was a great educational experience hosted by 3 tutors from Sydney who travel around the state delivering workshops for the Premiers Debating Challenge. We learnt the steps of debating and had a lot of fun in the process. Tony, who was the compere was very engaging and made us all feel confident to speak in front of an audience of children from Moree and Warialda schools. We ended the day having a practice debate with Jerry who was our mentor and he helped us through the process. We had a lot fun learning the art of rebuttal. The scenario was that there was a plane full of celebrities and it was about to crash and we had to persuade the audience that that you deserved the parachute to survive. It was fabulous to see how confident we all became as the day progressed. A really big thankyou to the parents who gave up their day to come with us.
Clean Up Australia
Today, our students worked together to undertake a school-wide clean up for Clean Up Australia Day. Our SRC oversee this initiative and have promoted recycling and environmental practice through posters, shared information and a recycled products competition. It was delightful to see our SRC all kitted up in their hi-vis vests, leading their peers to clean up allocated areas of our school grounds. This sense of responsibility fosters shared ownership over our school and promotes a sense of belonging amogst staff and students. Thank you to Miss Dudman and our dedicated SRC team that facilitated this event.
2K Infants Assembly
Our Infant's assembly was hosted by 2K. The audience was lucky to have 2 special items today. We were blown away by their beautiful singing performance of "What A Wonderful World"
In 2K we have had a fantastic time examining artefacts from the past and comparing them with objects we use today. We were especially surprised to learn that in the past people tried to reuse things as much as they could instead of just throwing things out. We would like to thank Mrs Tame, Mrs Gleeson and our parents who let us borrow their valuable artefacts from the past.
Week 7 Primary Assembly
We are excited to welcome back our families to our afternoon assemblies. Classes host these assemblies and present items related to the work they are undertaking in class.
Our week 6 assembly is hosted by 5D on THURSDAY, beginning at 2.40 pm in the school hall. If you are able to attend please sign in through the front office.
We look forward to seeing you there
Kindergarten 2023
The APCI Word
Early Stage One has been reading the book ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ with Mrs. Lindsay and Ms. Marlpe, our Assistant Principals Curriculum & Instruction. Today, we searched high and low for our Relieving Principal, Mrs. Allen, on a ‘Principal Hunt.’ After searching through the Pirate Ship, ‘Ahoy!’, through the sandpit, ‘Squelch, Squelch!’, through the library, ‘Tiptoe! Tiptoe!’ we decided we better search the front office. And there she was, not scary at all and full of joy to see our wonderful kindergarten.
Oh, what a beautiful day!

Netball
Students of NPS attended the Zone Swimming Carnival on the 17th of February at Narrabri Aquatic Centre. They competed against all neighboring schools such as Pillga, Bellata, Narrabri West, Burren Junction, Wee Waa and Rowena. Fierce competition from all the swimmers kept us on the edge of our seats. Chanting and encouragement was present from both swimmers and spectators, creating a buzz in the atmosphere. NPS came away with some impressive results, with several swimmers successfully qualifying for the Northwest competition in Armidale. It was a pleasure to watch all students demonstrate our Core Values . Well done NPS!
Softball Selection
Over the last couple of weeks softball trials have been happening at our school under the guidance and expertise of Miss Kane and Mrs Young. Around 30 boys and girls have been attending skill- based sessions on throwing, catching and running bases. These ladies are having a hard time selecting a boys and a girls team to play in the PSSA knockout competition. This requires commitment from both the coaches and students to ensure that NPS has quality teams. Last year our school came 3rd in the state championships in Sydney and we are hoping to go further this year.
