A Message From The Principal

Mrs Claire Allen

We have enjoyed another wonderful week at Narrabri Public School, despite a few warmer days. Monday began with celebrations all around as all classes received their Week 7 attendance awards for achieving greater than 90% attendance. 2C delivered a rhythmic and entertaining assembly, showcasing their chair drum skills, and our High Potential Gifted Education students expanded their artistic appreciation skills by attending the CREATE exhibition. Our infants students are coming along in leaps and bounds using the InitiaLit program and it was a delight to be invited in to read their independent sentences. Our Year 3 and 5 students have taken a mature and dedicated approach to trying their best at NAPLAN and we look forward to reviewing their results when they become available.

30 Years service -

Mrs Therese lindsay

It was with great fanfare and applause that we presented Mrs Tess Lindsay with her certificate for 30 Years of Service to the Department of Education at Monday’s assembly. Mrs Lindsay is a familiar and much-loved face at Narrabri Public School. She he has shared her immense talents with many local schools in various roles over the past 30 years.

Mrs Lindsay has been a beloved classroom teacher, Assistant Principal, Instructional Leader, Relieving Principal and currently is enriching the lives of our staff and students as our Assistant Principal Curriculum and Instruction. We are very blessed to have her!

Northwest Touch Football Trials

On Tuesday, Ashlyn Saunders, Laycee Lawler, Lincoln Bourke, Clinton Lamb and Hunter Barrett travelled to Tamworth as part of the Narrabri Zone girls and boys touch football teams to compete in the Northwest touch selections trials. Both teams played 6 games throughout the day from school all across the region.

The players were trying to impress the selectors with their touch football skills, to gain a position in the Northwest teams to compete at the State Carnivals in Sydney from the 23rd to 25th May. Although none of our students were selected on the day, they gained a lot of experience by playing at this high level of competition and will bring that knowledge into our school PSSA Knockout teams, when we play the Narrabri West boys and girls teams later in the year.

Well done to you all

2C Infants Assembly

In week 5, the SRC undertook their first event for 2023- Clean Up Australia Day.

Each class committed to the challenge of creating a piece of recycled art. The SRC has voted on the winner ,Which was 5H. Congratulations!

Harmony Day is a celebration of our cultural diversity – a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home.

On this day, the students are encouraged to wear a 'splash of orange'. For example a ribbon, wrist band or orange socks!

Students must wear full school uniform.

P&C Fruit Day

Last Tuesday, 14th March, our P & C held one of our favourite days - Fruit Day. Our staff and students were excited to receive their abundant platters of fruit and vegetables. These were generously donated by our local businesses - Woolworths, Myall Farm and Endulge Beauty. Thank you so much to these business houses. Once again our P & C gave up their valuable time to organise, cut up and plate these platters for all to enjoy.

In coming weeks there will be further opportunities for our school community members to assist the P & C with their many fundraising events.

On Monday, 20th March, at 3.30pm our 1st Fete Meeting will be held. Many hands and many ideas will create a Fete to be remembered and enjoyed by everyone. Please come along.

Don’t forget the Easter Raffle is also coming up on 6 April. Donations of Easter eggs and baskets will be gratefully received at the front office. Your assistance to set up the Raffle on the day and/or selling tickets will be appreciated.

So come along and get involved with the P&C and help your school and make some new friends as well.

Create Exhibition

Twenty-seven Ms. Marple's HPGE Creative group students walked to the Crossing Theatre to visit the 'Create Exhibition.'

Mr. Scott Pollock, the curator of the exhibition, guided the students through the collection, talking about the different types of mediums that local artists used to create their artworks. Ms. Marple, an artist herself, had three artwork pieces in the exhibition.

Our students also learned about and experienced installation art, a large-scale, mixed-media construction. The 'Love is all in the Flutterby Hall' was a favourite attraction for our students to experience.

Thank you, Ms. Marple, for organising this inspiring experience.

Transition Commences

Our kindergarten transition program commenced this week with the first of our pre-school visits. This important step assists future kindergarten students to experience big school with adults they know, fostering confidence that helps them to enjoy the experience.

We have 3 more Tuesday pre-school visits before the end of the term, and this week’s visitors were delighted to receive a medal to celebrate their time at NPS. There were many laughs and smiles as they explored our playground, ate delicious fruit, and participated in activities with our current kindergarten students.

Next term commences with a Meet and Greet afternoon tea on Tuesday 2nd May from 2-3pm; with the ready for kindergarten sessions from 2-3pm weekly from Tuesday, 9th May.

If you have a child, or have friends or family that have children commencing kindergarten in 2024, we would encourage them to contact the office on 6792 2246 to organise a Principal’s tour of the school and to attend the upcoming sessions. Even if you haven’t made a final decision about the best fit for your child, we would love to share the exciting and enriching opoprtunities that Narrabri Public School has to offer.
