A Message From The Principal
Mrs Claire Allen
With only 9 school days left this term, it is hard to imagine where the time has gone! It has been a term full of experiences for our students, from cultural excursions like CREATE, to sporting adventures including our latest round of softball. Our students have embodied our Core Values at every turn this term, impressing our staff with their respectful and responsible attitude towards achieving their personel best, displaying resilience even as we begin to get very tired towards the end of the term, and being inclusive in all settings.
We thank our parents for their support in celebrating personal successes for their children, attending school events, offering support to our P & C and canteen, or even calling in for a chat with helpful feedback that makes our school an incredible place for students to learn. We are blessed to have a school community that is dedicated to supporting our Core Values.

Drama
Club!
Drama Club Commences
Drama Club has been a popular activity in our calendar every year, with students enthusiastically participating in this after-school special activity. This opportunity is open to Years 1 to 6 students and there are 60 students included in our 2023 Drama Club. Mrs Young, Ms Stolty, Ms King, Miss Dudman and Miss Bollen are our Drama Club teachers and are looking forward to working with our students to prepare them for the upcoming Eisteddfod as well as develop confidence and skills in presenting to a group; lifelong skills that will benefit our students well beyond their time in primary school. We look forward to sharing Drama Club updates throughout the year.
Students are encouraged to bring some afternoon snacks to eat before we start each Monday. Children can bring a change of clothes if they wish to change out of their school clothes. Pick up at 4.30 pm will be hall side, Balonne Street, unless otherwise organised.
Harmony Day
Harmony day was enthusiastically recognised throughout NPS and a ‘splash of orange’ was seen across both students and staff.
The SRC have embraced their new roles to their fullest extent, as they effectively collaborated to create ideas on how best to celebrate this important day.
Students were given the opportunity to reflect on what it means to appreciate the diverse range of people we are surrounded with by completing a colouring in, creating poster/slogans and trying their luck at a lolly guessing competition.
5H Primary Assembly
Our week 9 primary assembly was hosted by 5H.
We were delighted to show our Rainbow City Skyscrapers. For these artworks we used rainbow paints to create our horizon. Warm colours were used for the sky and cooler colours for the ground and water below. We used black cardboard to show the cityscape and oil pastels to create the shadow effect on the water below the city.
Week 10 Infants Assembly
We are excited to welcome back our families to our afternoon assemblies. Classes host these assemblies and present items related to the work they are undertaking in class.
Our week 10 assembly is hosted by 1S on Wednesday, beginning at 2.40 pm in the school hall. If you are able to attend please sign in through the front office. We look forward to seeing you there.
Families and community members are welcome to come into our school from 2pm on Thursday, 6 April.
Students are encouraged to create their own easter hats for the parade at home.
Easter raffle tickets can be purchased through the P & C Canteen app - MySchoolConnect, through the front office at school, or from our students.
Tickets are $1 each. Any Easter donations towards the Raffle are greatly appreciated.
Your Feedback
As a school community we are always looking to improve our practice. Your voice as the parents and carers of our students is vital in achieving this goal. We know your time is precious but would appreciate if you could take a few moments to complete the survey from the link below, reflecting on the positive aspects of the 2022 school year and how we can make improvements as we move forward in 2023.
Thank you sincerly for your time in completing this survey.
Stage Three Cake Day
This Monday, 27 March will be our first cake day for 2023. We kindly ask that students in stage 3 (years 5 & 6) donate a cake, cupcakes or slices to be sold to the entire school.
Cakes and slices will be priced at .50c each for all students to purchase. Cakes can be brought into school on Monday morning.
Please send items to the school hall in a disposable container to avoid loss of valuables.
A reminder that some students have severe allergies to nuts and nut extracts so ALL forms of nuts are to be excluded from cakes & slices please.
Parent help is required to sell cakes at the stall. If you are able to spare some time around 11:10 am, your help would be very much appreciated. If you are able to help, please contact the Narrabri Public School Canteen and P & C Facebook page, or contact the front office on 6792 2246.
Police Talk
On Thursday, Constable Ben Stride from Narrabri Police Command visited our Stage 3 students to share information with students on the prevention of bullying and cyber safety.
These areas have been a key focus in our Bullying Prevention Plan and are important issues for our students to understand. Ben spoke about the impact of being a victim, the consequences of being a perpertrator and the power of being an upstander in this process.
He spoke about the power of words and their impact on the way others feel and strategies to manage when cyber bullying occurs. We encourage our families to be informed about these issues, as students can find themselves caught up in situations without understanding how to seek help. Please go to

Transition Commences
Our kindergarten transition program commenced this week with the first of our pre-school visits. This important step assists future kindergarten students to experience big school with adults they know, fostering confidence that helps them to enjoy the experience.
We have 3 more Tuesday pre-school visits before the end of the term, and this week’s visitors were delighted to receive a medal to celebrate their time at NPS. There were many laughs and smiles as they explored our playground, ate delicious fruit, and participated in activities with our current kindergarten students.
Next term commences with a Meet and Greet afternoon tea on Tuesday 2nd May from 2-3pm; with the ready for kindergarten sessions from 2-3pm weekly from Tuesday, 9th May.
If you have a child, or have friends or family that have children commencing kindergarten in 2024, we would encourage them to contact the office on 6792 2246 to organise a Principal’s tour of the school and to attend the upcoming sessions. Even if you haven’t made a final decision about the best fit for your child, we would love to share the exciting and enriching opoprtunities that Narrabri Public School has to offer.

P&C News
Next Meeting:
Wednesday 29th March 2023
6:00 pm. NPS Learning Hub
On Monday, staff and P & C members met to discuss the scheduled Fete for 20th October, 2023.
This will be a twilight fete that is scheduled on the same day as our Grandparents and Friends Day, encouraging our families to come together for a wonderful day of festivities that lead into a weekend.
There were ideas flying - from food stalls, to the beloved jar stall, raffles, guessing competitions, fun and engaging interactive activities and much much more.
The P & C will work with staff to make this the best fete yet! Keep a look out for fete planning updates in the coming weeks and if you have ideas to share, please contact our P & C via the school’s email address: narrabri-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au.
Our P&C would like to warmly welcome and encourage all members of our school community to join this wonderfully inclusive and encouraging team of parents. Whether you can attend meetings or events in person, via zoom, or want to bring the kids along for some fun, everyone is welcome. Our P&C are keen to make this experience more accessible to a wider range of parents and in the coming weeks will be sending out surveys to find the optimal time of day for meetings and what changes need to be made to our current format. We encourage everyone to consider this exciting opportunity to be part of your child's schooling in a completely different and enjoyable way.
