A Message From The Principal
Mrs Claire Allen
Our Kindergarten transition program is off to a flying start this term, with many new faces joining our program each week. Attending the Tuesday sessions from 2:00-3:00 pm is a wonderful opportunity for our 2024 kindergarten students to become ready for life at 'big school'.
They engage in early literacy and numeracy skills development activities, learn about social conventions, and become familiar with the staff, students, and environment of Narrabri Public School.

Our Stage 1 Musical Entertainment, Primary Choir, Kindergarten Dance, and Primary Dance (Pattie's Dancers) all were commended for their outstanding performances and they were so proud coming back to school to share with their friends and other staff members.
We wish our competitors for next week the best of luck and thank the Narrabri Eisteddfod Committee for all their hard work in bringing this event together for our community.

OOSH at NPS
Nurruby Narrabri OOSH are working on the final details for the establishment of an OOSH service at Narrabri Public School.
This was in response to surveys conducted during Term 1 this year. The service is hoping to be operational for Term 2-3 holidays from 3rd July and will be available to NPS and NWPS students. If you are interested in seeking placement, please contact Hannah on 0491 332 628. It is anticipated that positions will fill up fast, so please make sure to call quickly and secure a spot for your child.
Nitbusters Reminder!
A reminder to all our families who participated in Nitbusters K-3 last Friday, if you treated your child's hair over the weekend it is time to give it a second treatment.
Research shows that a second treatment 7 days later has the greatest effect on keeping head lice under control and preventing any re-infestation.
Week 6 Infants Assembly
We are excited to welcome back our families to our afternoon assemblies. Classes host these assemblies and present items related to the work they are undertaking in class.
Our week 6 assembly is hosted by 2K on Wednesday, beginning at 2.30 pm in the school hall. If you are able to attend please sign in through the front office.
We look forward to seeing you there

Mrs Cathy Charles & Mrs Melissa Packer
Gardening Gurus coordinators
Our Gardening Gurus have been hard at work turning seasonal vegetables, like zucchini, capsicum, shallots and carrots into delicious fried rice. This was the biggest hit yet, with absolutely no leftovers!
Our students devoured the dish almost quicker than it could be made and many students were excited to take home the recipe to share with their family. We even had some Year 6 students declaring that they would be making the dish themselves for their family.
What a success! Well done Mrs Charles and Mrs Packer.

Parents, have you seen the ‘Everyday Maths Hub’ on the NSW Government Website?
As a parent or carer, you play a vital role in how your child thinks and feels about maths. Even if it wasn’t your favourite subject when you went to school, maths is all around us.
A suggested activity on the ‘Everyday Maths Hub’ is to teach your child about volume and capacity whilst baking a delicious snack.
Baking Brownies
Unleash your inner chef
Step 1
Collect all the ingredients you need for the recipe. Ensure the recipe is suitable for your child's dietary requirements.
Step 2
Get your child to help with measuring and weighing out the various ingredients, discussing what is meant by the different quantities and measurements as you go.
Here are some examples of what you can ask to support their understanding:
"Do any of the measurements need to be converted to cups or grams, depending on the measuring tools you have available?"
"What's bigger, half of a cup or a quarter of a cup?"
"What’s smaller, a teaspoon or a tablespoon?"
"We are doubling this recipe so we can take brownies to the picnic. How can we work out together two lots of three-quarters?"
Follow the steps of your recipe until you've cooked something delicious that you both can enjoy!

Simultaneous Storytime
Last Wednesday, our school took part in the annual National Simultaneous Storytime at 11am. Infants made their way to the Town Library for the event, enjoying a chance to experience the wonderful storybook with our town librarians. Our classes in 3-6 joined with their stage groups and found the whole experience wonderful.

PSSA Boys and Girls Touch Knockout Competition
On Thursday morning our boys and girls Touch Football teams played their first round of the PSSA knockout matches against the Narrabri West Public School at Leitch Oval.
Both of our teams have been training very hard over the past 6 weeks in readiness for these games.
The boys played first and this game was played at a fast pace, with play going from end to end with some amazing tries being scored.
At half-time the scores were locked up at 3 all, so with 20 minutes to go it was anyone’s game. Unfortunately our boys didn’t come away with the win, going down 8 tries to 4 at full time.
Our girls were up next playing some great touch football putting all their skills they learnt at training into the game.
The girls were down 4 tries to 2 at half-time and although they played some great touch in the second half, the Narrabri West girls ran away with the game 8 tries to 2. Our boys and girls should be very proud of themselves on their sportsmanship on and off the field, which was outstanding and the way they played the games was a real team effort. Well done to both teams.
North-West PSSA Netball
On Friday 19th Elsie traveled to Tamworth for PSSA netball trials over the course of the day for selection in the North-West PSSA netball team.
Over 140 students trialed at this level & Elsie made it through to the final 17 Possibles & Probables, narrowly missing out on north-west selection.
