A Message From
The Principal
Mrs Claire Allen
Our Year 3 and 5 students displayed great maturity this week as they commenced their 2024 NAPLAN assessments. On Wednesday they completed the writing assessment, with our Year 3 students writing their narrative pieces and our Year 5 typing. Our students were patient, encouraging, dedicated to achieving their best, and courageous as they dreamt up imaginative tales and transferred these to the page. Well done everyone. We will see the completion of our NAPLAN assessments during Week 8. There is a lot of illness going around at the moment so we have arranged a number of catch up opportunities for those students away on their scheduled assessment day.
This week 6CH hosted the first assembly of the year and I was so impressed at the dedicated approach these students took to preparing for this event. They showcased the remarkable work they are doing in line with their literacy unit on the classic novel, Stormboy, however even more impressive was the way they worked together to prepare the hall for parents, organise awards, and took their role as the leaders of our school so seriously. We are luck to have such an incredible Year 6 leading the way in 2024.

Voluntary School
Contributions
Like all NSW public schools, we can request contributions to enhance our educational and sporting programs including elective subjects. School contributions help provide additional educational resources for the benefit of students. Payment is voluntary.
For more information, visit the Voluntary School Contribution policy.
At Narrabri Public School, voluntary school contributions are set in consultation with the P & C and collected by the school for classroom resources, library and computers and software. Fees are requested at the beginning of the year, and this year are charged as follows:
Financial assistance
If you are unable to pay school contributions because of financial hardship, your children will not be disadvantaged in any way. Our principal will ensure no student or family suffers any discrimination or embarrassment over the inability to pay school contributions.
Our Easter Hat Parade and raffle is scheduled for Thursday, 28th March from 2:30pm.
We invite all students to join our annual Easter Hat Parade by crafting their Easter Hat Bonnet. Creating your own hat is not mandatory.
If your child would like to participate, please help them make their hat at home and let their imagination run wild. Students will have the chance to showcase their designs to their peers and families.
Families are invited to join the celebrations. The parade will kick off at 2:30 pm.
Easter raffle tickets are available for purchase via the P & C Canteen app - MySchoolConnect, at the school's front office, or through our students. Each ticket costs $1, and any Easter donations for the raffle are greatly appreciated.

Band News
We are delighted to announce that music lessons have commenced with the talented Mrs. Smith, and our students are already immersed in the wonderful world of melodies and rhythms. The excitement is palpable, and we wanted to share some highlights with you.
The dedication and enthusiasm displayed by our students have been truly commendable. Their commitment to mastering their instruments have set the stage for a promising journey ahead. We anticipate that many of them will soon be ready to take the next step and join the esteemed ranks of our school band.
Please mark your calendars for the upcoming Eisteddfod, where individual students will perform solos and our ensemble group will enchant the audience with their harmonious melodies.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and we eagerly anticipate the melodious future that lies ahead for our young musicians.
Harmony Day is a celebration of our cultural diversity – a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home.
Thursday, the 21st, students are invited to add a 'splash of orange' to their attire, such as a ribbon, wristband, or orange socks.

Week 7 Primary Assembly
This week 6CH took the lead in the primary assembly. During the award ceremonies, 6CH shared their interpretations of the book 'Storm Boy' by Colin Thiele through text and illustrations. Additionally, the Literacy Enrichment students of 6CH delved into the narrative and character progression in Tim Winton's novel, 'Blueback’. They also exhibited self-portraits emphasizing their strengths.
Congratulations to 6CH!

North West Swimming
On Monday, Miss Dudman and 15 of our students participated in the North West Swimming Championships in Armidale. The goal was to secure a top 3 placement in their events to qualify for the North West team and compete at the State Championships in Sydney Olympic Park 11 & 12 April. All our swimmers performed admirably, achieving numerous personal best times.
Well done to all these students who travelled to Armidale for these trials, your performance in the pool as well as your sportsmanship on the day was outstanding.
There were many close finishes with a few of our students just missing out on a place to progress to the next level.
Mia Yates, Abigail Clarke, Maddison Saunders, Casey Lamb and Charlie-Lea Hulbert. were successful on the day and will now travel to Sydney for the PSSA State Championships being held at the Sydney Olympic Aquatic Centre on the 11th and 12th April. NPS wish you all the best for these Championships.
